Title: 1967 - Death of Che Guevara

About: The socialist revolutionary and guerilla leader Che Guevara was hunted down and killed by the Bolivian army.

Following the success of the Cuban Revolution, Che Guevara took up arms again in an attempt to spread Marxist revolutionary ideology in Africa and South America. But the missions, including the one to inspire an uprising in Bolivia, were all but doomed.

After months of skirmishing in the jungle, Che's rag-tag band of revolutionaries were hunted and pinned down. His leg riddled with bullets, gun knocked out of his hand, Guevara was captured.

The US government wanted him alive to be interrogated, but Bolivian leaders decided that Guevara must be executed, fearing a public trial would only garner him sympathy.

The official story was that he was killed in battle. Despite his death, his legend would only grow, and his ideas and guerrilla concepts lived on.
